European Parliament Adopts a Resolution on the Rights of Indigenous People Worldwide
On 3 July 2018, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on violations of the rights of indigenous peoples in the world, including land grabbing. The report provides a comprehensive overview of the human rights violations committed against indigenous peoples around the world and gives a list of recommendations aiming at achieving more protection for these vulnerable communities, with a particular focus on women and indigenous people with disabilities. This report includes recommendations directed to the European Parliament as well as EU member States, particularly regarding trade agreements that might have a detrimental impact on indigenous communities and the extraterritorial responsibility/liability of European companies operating abroad. New Staff Member at the Secretariat
I am Odile Ntakirutimana, Burundian by nationality and members of the Congregation of Daughters of Mary and Joseph (Institut des Dames de Marie). I did my university studies in Burundi at Light University of Bujumbura where I got my Bachelor’s Degree in Law in 2013 and at the National University of Ireland, Galway where I got a Master’s Degree in International Human Rights Law at the Irish Centre for Human Rights in 2017. I joined the team of international secretariat of AEFJN in July 2018 and I am particularly involved in the work of land grabbing and food sovereignty. With AEFJN, I am ready to contribute as much as I can to promote and defend more justice in the relations between Africa and Europe

Le Parlement européen adopte une résolution sur les droits des peuples autochtones
Le 3 juillet 2018, le Parlement européen a adopté une résolution sur les violations des droits des peuples autochtones dans le monde, y compris l'accaparement des terres. Le rapport fournit un aperçu complet des violations des droits de l'homme commises contre les peuples autochtones dans le monde et fournit une liste de recommandations visant à renforcer la protection de ces communautés vulnérables, en mettant particulièrement l'accent sur les femmes et les populations autochtones handicapées. Une nouvelle collaboratrice du Secrétariat d’AEFJN
Je suis Odile Ntakirutimana, de nationalité Burundaise et membre de la Congrégation des Filles de Marie et Joseph (Institut des Dames de Marie). J’ai fait mes études universitaires au Burundi à l’Université Lumière de Bujumbura où j’ai obtenu ma Licence en Droit en 2013, et à l’Université Nationale d’Irlande, Galway où j’ai obtenu une Maitrise en Droit international des Droits Humains du Centre Irlandais des Droits Humains en 2017. Je fais partie du secrétariat international de AEFJN depuis le mois de juillet 2018 et je travaille particulièrement dans le domaine de l’accaparement de terres et souveraineté alimentaire. Avec AEFJN, je suis prête à contribuer autant que je peux pour promouvoir et défendre plus de justice dans les relations économiques entre l’Afrique et l’Europe.
