The round table “The long journey to Europe: integration or destitution” took place last May 6 at the Resurrection Chapel in Brussels. On the occasion of the European elections AEFJN is taking part in debates that seek the relationship between European policies and their consequences for Africa. Together with JRS and 11.11 (Belgian development organisation) AEFJN participated in the analysis of migrations trying to find the root causes that move immigrants to come to Europe. Chika pointed out two main problems: the poverty and armed conflicts among others circumstances and advocated for stronger democratic institutions in Africa aside of the influence of Western countries such as the European Union.
